Responsibilities

Business Development VPs play the crucial role of hunting and farming new business. While others in the organization may occasionally bring in a project or a new account, the BD VP is tasked with the responsibility to grow the firm. As a Business Development VP at Symmetrics Group, you will be expected to:

 

  • Sell at least $2M in client revenues annually from a combination of new and existing accounts
  • Develop and present a sales business plan for the coming year
  • Manage to BD expense budget
  • Assess and communicate sales “forecast” and participate in BD and pipeline review calls
  • Provide significant sales and marketing and/or industry business acumen and thought leadership through new client pursuits, billable client engagements, and creation of thought capital
  • Ultimately be accountable for all activities associated with client, including quality delivery and managing risk, account administration, and financial management
  • Develop and maintain long-term trusted advisor relationships with client executives
  • Collaborate with AM to develop account strategy, roadmaps, tactics
  • Provide feedback and input into overall Symmetrics Group marketing strategy and tactics
  • Assist in onboarding and developing account team members (especially if there is no AM)
  • Assist in designing business development related activities (i.e. recruiting events, client appreciation events, bi weekly BD calls, etc.)
  • Ensure timely and accurate time and expense tracking on a weekly basis
Qualifications

The ideal Business Development VP candidate will have the following qualifications:

 

  • 15+ years selling in a consultative environment
  • Prior experience selling professional services a must
  • Proven track record of successful client relationships and solid book of business/contacts
  • Versatility to work across industry verticals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the propensity to be professionally direct (able to be direct when necessary, influence, persuade, and motivate others)
  • Demonstrated organizational and writing skills to develop and execute formal proposals and statements-of-work, client deliverables, and internal content
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Proficiency-Level skill in the use of MS Office tools: PowerPoint, Word, Excel

Travel is required approximately 50% of the time for typical engagements (up to 75% at peak times). Compensation will be a combination of base salary and a variable bonus based on the margin realized through clients sold and managed.
